Get to Know Dr. Victoria Shirley
Dr. Shirley is a dedicated, passionate, and gentle dentist who enjoys connecting with her patients while helping them achieve their happiest, healthiest smile. Before moving to Atlanta, Dr. Shirley worked as a dentist for 5 years in North Carolina and Florida while her husband was in the US Navy. She is excited to be settled in Atlanta and happy to be a part of the Mazzawi Dental Intown team. Dr. Shirley remains committed to providing quality care, maintaining a trustworthy and compassionate demeanor, and being an active listener for her patients. Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Shirley discovered her drive for knowledge and helping others at a young age. Dr. Shirley knew she wanted to become a dentist after experiencing first-hand how a new smile can transform lives and dedicated herself to helping others feel the same way. She worked diligently in high school and ultimately accepted a full tuition honors scholarship to attend the University of Pittsburgh. During her undergraduate years, she confirmed her passion for helping others by volunteering in health care facilities and working as a dental assistant. Ultimately, she graduated with honors, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Pittsburgh and pursued dentistry as her lifelong career.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Shirley obtained her doctorate from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Arizona, where she graduated summa cum laude. She was president of the dental school student body and earned the American College of Dentists’ “Outstanding Student Leader Award” for outstanding leadership, scholastic performance, and potential for impact on the dental profession. Her involvement keeps her up to date with the latest dental technologies and has given her the opportunity to give back to the community in various outreach events over the years.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
When she’s not at the office, Dr. Shirley enjoys spending time with her family. Dr. Shirley is happily married to another dentist and future oral surgeon. They love spending time with their identical twin boys, Owen & Carter, and their oldest son, Bennett.
Dr. Shirley also enjoys taking barre classes, going on walks, skiing, and traveling during her spare time. She loves exploring new places. Her favorite adventure thus far was taking a hiking trip to Havasupai Falls in Arizona.
